A dental implant is a small titanium post placed in the jawbone to replace the root of a missing tooth. Once it integrates with the bone, a crown, bridge or denture is fixed on top, giving you a replacement that looks, feels and works much like a natural tooth.
Implants are planned carefully, because success depends on bone quality, gum health and bite. Dr. Soumya Chaudhuri holds a Certificate in Implantology and plans each case after a proper examination and imaging, explaining the options, timeline and what to expect before anything starts.
When You May Need Dental Implants
- You have lost one tooth and do not want to file down neighbouring teeth for a bridge
- Several teeth are missing and you want a fixed alternative to a removable denture
- Your current denture feels loose or uncomfortable
- You have difficulty chewing because of missing teeth
How the Treatment Works
- Consultation and imaging. Your mouth, gums and bone are assessed with X-rays or scans, and a treatment plan is prepared.
- Implant placement. Under local anaesthesia, the implant is placed in the jawbone in a short surgical procedure.
- Healing period. The implant fuses with the bone over a few months. A temporary solution may be given in the meantime.
- Abutment and crown. Once healed, a connector and a custom-made crown are fitted and adjusted to your bite.
